Properly plan the hiking vacation in the Thuringian Forest

Our hiking hotel in Thuringia is located only a few kilometers from the Rennsteig. So here are numerous possibilities for all who want to hike along the Rennsteig.

Since the hotel is located in Oberhof and this place is also exactly in the middle of the long-distance hiking trail Rennsteig, you can plan both longer and shorter routes from here. A hotel on the Rennsteig is always the perfect starting point for small and large excursions.

After an extensive day of hiking, you can clean and dry your shoes and clothes in our drying room - right next to the Kaminstube. Our heatable wardrobe and the shoe dryer provide the best conditions for the coming active day.

Rennsteig ladders - the place a poet raved about

Not far from Oberhof, for example, lies the Rennsteig ladder Zella-Mehlis. It leads over a distance of 6.8 kilometers through the idyllic Lubenbach Valley. Directly in Oberhof and very close to the hotel, on the other hand, begins the Rennsteig-Leiter Luisenthal. This hiking trail is 9.5 kilometers long and is considered moderately difficult. The path leads to the Ohratalsperre with its numerous viewpoints, which provide an indescribable view over the reservoir. By the way, it supplies all of Central Thuringia with drinking water.

Nordic Feeling in all seasons

Cross-country skiing is one of the most beautiful sports of all. Oberhof is considered one of the German centers of Nordic sports and therefore also bears the predicate "DSV nordic active region". Numerous cross-country trails have been designated as "nordic-aktiv routes". Near Oberhof, two trails near the Schneekopf inspire skiing enthusiasts. However, if the weather doesn't quite want to cooperate, cross-country skiing is still possible in Oberhof. In the LOTTO Thüringen Skisport-HALLE Oberhof you can ski 365 days a year. Germany's only indoor cross-country skiing hall is home to a varied cross-country ski trail that is around 2 kilometers long, with a constant -4 °C.
Of course, you can also conquer these routes in the summer with Nordic Walking! Nordic walking is considered one of the healthiest outdoor sports around. It makes fitness a breeze. If you want to go hiking and experience other sports in Oberhof, you've come to the right place in the heart of the Thuringian Forest. Rennsteig and hiking belong together, but Oberhof is also one of the most famous winter sports resorts in the country and offers fans of Nordic sports suitable trails and numerous opportunities in all seasons. By the way, at the Oberhof Information you can rent Nordic Walking poles at any time with your Oberhof Card.
